Just finished reading today’s views, and could hardly contain myself over two very courageous people who spoke up and said what many of us are thinking. So, here goes.
To Brad Andres, thank you. I have given up trying to coax anything to survive in my flowerbed under my front window because of roaming cats in my neighbourhood. Most of these nightly wanderers do have homes with my neighbours but are allowed to roam freely, daily, and all night. Rather than have a litter box in their spotless homes, it is much more convenient to open the door and let the cat or cats out to do their ablutions. My flowerbed seems to be a common meeting ground, similar to McDonald’s or Tims. I do not wish to put out repellent as it is noxious to all of us, and our environment: But, this begs the question, why has city hall made it impossible to own a dog in this city due to all the rules and regulations and fees and fines? But never address the growing number of loose cats? Why are there missing posters of cats pasted to every mailbox in every neighbourhood? Because cats are an indoor pet!
If you don’t want to be a caring, responsible cat owner, then don’t have one.
Now, for my next gripe: and applause to Alan Murdock. I met Mr. Doug Horner in person, followed his career, and was delighted to see Ms. Alison Redford given the boot. I did not live here when she slid in as premier by a secondary vote. Thank goodness. I could never forgive myself if my vote had positioned her in this seat.
But I believed Mr. Horner would make a fine premier, and was sorely disappointed when he decided not to run. This man had a position that was undermined by the amount of greed and power allocated to Ms. Redford. I also believe, as Mr. Murdock, that the new guard had better treat this man with respect, as he so richly deserves.
He became the fall guy when Ms. Redford slid back to where she came from. Surely Mr. Prentice wants the party to clean up its act and try to restore some of its once powerful image. He can do this by keeping Mr. Horner, and his valuable experience, by his side.
We will just wait and see.
