I totally agree with the letter by Gillian Smith (Gazette, April 4) – “Citizens should have the right to opt out of water meter program” – and I would like to thank the writer of this letter.
On Feb. 19, 2018 I sent a letter to city council stating: “I totally agree with the letter writers of “Residents unhappy with smart water meter rollout” on page 19 in last Saturday’s/February 17, 2018 St. Albert Gazette.”
We bought our lot in Grandin in 1962, cleared the bush off the lot and built our house there. We have been taxpayers for 55 plus years. My water meter was changed many years ago and has been read externally ever since. Nobody has had to enter my house to read it any more. I won’t be allowing that contractor to come into my house. This is simply atrocious. Unfortunately our formerly lovely, friendly St. Albert has mutated into an authoritarian dictatorship over the last decade or so.
I hope that there will be more letters coming. All my neighbours and the people I talk to agree with me that this is simply outrageous!
