RE: Three Pot Shops Appealed
The NIMBY (Not-In-My-Back-Yard) attitude of the residents working hard to drive legal businesses out of St. Albert is appalling. They are disregarding many important factors all for the sake of their own personal gain. Have they given any thought to the fact that they are shunning local small businesses that provide local jobs? Or that they are turning their noses up at hard-working local residents who will contribute to the local tax burden?
To drive these businesses out of St. Albert, in the name of keeping it away from youths or the fear of increased use outside of bars and lounges, is ignorant at best. Those seeking access or areas to use the now-legal substance will simply travel into Edmonton, which is all but directly promoting impaired driving. Patrons of bars don’t consume alcohol outside of lounges, so the assumption they will “toke up” is more or less a scare tactic being used by the NIMBY mob.
Friends, put the pitchforks down, turn up some Bob Marley, and if you won’t light up, at the very least remember: “Don’t worry about a thing, 'cause every little thing is gonna be alright”.
