The letters "We need someone to stand up and do the right thing" and "Letter to the mayor and councillors" were incredibly powerful and right to the point. I applaud both Steve Stone and Mike Bishop for saying it like it is.
We did vote them in and there are only two councillors who have our best interests at heart. The mayor and the other four have proven themselves to be egotistical, flamboyant and above the law.
With the upcoming byelection, we absolutely need a seasoned, experienced powerhouse, a "pitbull" in essence to join our only two proven councillors who have surprisingly been able to hold the mayor and rest of council at bay. Recently, I made a couple of calls to public works to report a section of chain link fence in Poplar Park that were in need of repair for the past three years. I was told someone would get back to me. Not!! So I placed a call last week to Sheena Hughes and sent photos to her. Within five minutes, yes, that is five minutes, I got a call from public works advising me that it would be repaired in September. June 7, I saw that the fence was repaired.
Now if this doesn't indicate who is working for us, I don't know what else to say except that all accounts that I read about this council, Sheena Hughes and Cam McKay right now are our only hope at having some order in the house.
When voting this June 24, ask yourself if the person is a "nice guy or nice gal" and if the answer is yes, then maybe rethink your choice. We need someone strong who isn't a yes person and who can't be manipulated or intimidated. Someone who can stand up to the mayor and his group and will lend support to our two great representatives.
