They say you can't choose your neighbours and that probably benefits myself and my wife who are senior citizens and tend to keep to ourselves.
In addition, I am not supposed to shovel snow because of a chronic back problem. However, I can say that I am blessed with neighbours who surround us on Hampton Crescent. Last year after one of our bigger storms, one of the neighbours did about 10 driveways in -30 C weather with nothing asked.
This year, after the mother of all storms, some of our neighbours came over and helped us with snow clearing and they cleared out the entire street circle so all of the neighbours would not get stuck just getting out onto the streets. Somehow I feel I should be paying them some of my taxes for their good deeds.
Too often people fail to remember the value of neighbours who ask for nothing in return. I hope they can be acknowledged for their kindness and good hearts. This truly shows the spirit of St. Albert.
