Dear MP Michael Cooper:
I have received your "Carbon Tax" notice in the mail. I see that it is very critical of the NDP position. However, it is also significant that your note says nothing about how you would reduce greenhouse gas emissions. You are correct, nevertheless, in pointing out that Canada must do its part.
To be fully credible, should you not be more specific? What is the specific issue? What are the specific predicted environmental consequences of doing nothing? How do you personally weigh economic and environmental factors against each other? Are there not economic benefits to conserving the natural environment? Who are your advisers on this issue, other than (Conservative House Leader) Candice Bergen? Their qualifications? Finally, what specific steps would you take if you were in government?
I would appreciate receiving a comprehensive response.
