More protection for foreign workers

This letter is in regards to recent opinions expressed on the Temporary Foreign Workers policy.

I will assume that Mr. Fortier and Mr. Borgstede own their own businesses and have dealt with the hiring process for domestic workers. As that would be the only way they would know why many business owners, big and small, have had to go the foreign worker route. You would realize that the hassle of bringing and being responsible for a foreign worker is way less hassle than the many domestic workers our company has gone through in the last two years.

The problem with many domestic workers is that they do not realize that labour work actually involves labour work. Many domestic workers we have been through want a raise after a week, even though they have a difficult time showing up for an entire week of work. All our workers are treated with respect and paid very well, with perks along the way.

The employers who were reported for not treating their foreign workers correctly should have been dealt appropriately. And if you have ever worked at Walmart or many of the other businesses mentioned, you would know that their turnover rate is constant and they do not require much experience of any sort to be hired.

If you have not had to hire a foreign worker for your business, you may want to sit down and talk with business owners who have had to hire a foreign worker. You may then realize the positive effect they bring to our city, province and country, and why we go through many hassles and hurdles to bring them to Canada.
