Re: religion in schools:
As always in St. Albert there seems to be some serious ignorance regarding religion in schools. Let’s get to the point here. These families who are religious have their choice and their option to send their children to Catholic schools. That is fine, that is their choice and they have that right.
Now for those of us who are not religious, we typically have the option to send our children to a public school. There should always be both options. Here is the problem. St. Albert has the Catholic school system (which is the public school system) and then there is the Protestant school system. So in St. Albert, you can choose religious system one or religious system two. There is no true public school system as it is often referred to in Canada.
Now to those religious people out there thinking this is great, keep in mind that is your opinion and many of us want the other option. If you reverse the situation, I am sure that all of you sending children to the Catholic school system would not like to find out that there are only two school systems and neither one has a religious basis. Now there is apparently a problem in the Morinville area and this is just sad.
We as a population, regardless of which system we prefer, need to allow both school ideologies to be available.
