Minister's support of Bill 19 smacks of Soviet-style propaganda

I think Albertans have had enough. Lawyer Keith Wilson is cutting a swath, hundreds of miles wide across our province and last Monday, we witnessed the profoundness of his message again.

I think Albertans have had enough. Lawyer Keith Wilson is cutting a swath, hundreds of miles wide across our province and last Monday, we witnessed the profoundness of his message again. Landowners, property owners, and all other Albertans are mad as hell with our PC government and Bills 19, 36 and 50. But this time, Mr. Wilson had some help.

At a full house in St. Paul, the area residents listened as Mr. Wilson explained how each of Bills 19, 36 and 50 are bad pieces of legislation that need to be repealed. And contrary to what your government has said, Bill 10, (the amendments to Bill 36) is nothing more than a disguise to make us believe that ‘all is well’ with landowner issues. They are not.

Minister Ray Danyluk (whose riding we were in) was in the audience. When Mr. Wilson finished, he invited Danyluk to respond. Mr. Danyluk, constantly coveting the mike, insisted that Bill 19 was great legislation, and that it actually gave landowners more rights than before. It does not.

Danyluk’s support for Bill 19 sounded just like Soviet-style propaganda. There were many in the audience who were angered by his comments and said that his tone was condescending. I would have to agree. But what really made the biggest impression was the ability for Mr. Wilson to argue every point with expertise and logic. This is the truth, and the law indicates this much. This showdown weighed so heavily to one side. One would almost think that the PC government sent Danyluk out there to prove that Mr. Wilson is correct.

Albertans are not convinced by a government that has loud, forceful, I-know-best attitudes. We are not willing to submit ourselves to a government that does not listen to the landowners and all Albertans. We cannot submit to rules that govern us with heavy hands. The government must repeal legislation that threatens our freedoms.

Mr. Danyluk should have read the tone of the room. We aren’t falling into place anymore. We have had enough. And thanks for coming out Minister Danyluk, but Mr. Wilson already had this one in the bag, mike or no mike.
