I have been catching up, watching and reading about council since coming home from vacation.
I am curious as to why our mayor is being paid for his services as chairperson of the Capital Regional Board into an account called Crouse Developments Inc. Is he being paid that way as our mayor? I have looked at the Municipal Government Act and found that he should be paid by the Capital Regional Board as a person, not a corporation. The same goes for the city remuneration also. What is the purpose of this? Is he trying to lower his tax rate?
It seems that he should report all earnings that relate to our city as he represents St. Albert on the CRB. This seems to be contrary to the stance the city has taken on reporting campaign expenses, etc. Does the mayor have special privileges?
