Market, not unions, should determine wages and costs

I support Coun. Cam MacKay's views of outsourcing. It is time we start letting market factors determine what we pay for our refuse, not unions. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) complained that they were trashed. So be it.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) complained that they were trashed. So be it. We are trying to control taxes and they want to be paid top dollar. Many of us haven't seen a raise at our places of work for a few years because of a recession but CUPE wants big raises for its members.

I guess they are privileged and more important than those who pay their wages. I think it is time the taxpayers in St. Albert had a spot at the bargaining table and told CUPE, “No raises. We can't afford it.”

I guess we should pay them more and do without in our households. I would like to see the employees work a little harder though. I would love to have a union job and not worry about getting laid off. Don't worry, Coun. MacKay. We finally have your voice on council.
