Love speech, hate speech?

I loved what was a glorious Sept. 25 autumn day witnessing my son marry his beautiful bride in St. Albert.

I loved it, it was beautiful … the very helpful and cheerful staff at the St. Albert Inn and Suites, the banquet hall decorated with blue and gold, the bridesmaids and groomsmen decked out in stylish attire, the gorgeous bride in her stunning dress, the proclamations of “I Do”, the speeches and toasts, the sumptuous buffet, the cake cutting, and finally the photo shoot over at the park.

Ahhh, what a day! I loved it. BUT, as they all arrived at the vehicles to go back to the hall, I hated to see the tears, and have police called to the scene where my son’s car’s rear side window was smashed and the bridesmaid’s purse was stolen which carried her own (and only) car keys, house keys, wallet and $1,000 cash.

I hated that the groom and bride were devastated for her. I hated that this generous lady could not drive back home to her family and job in Fox Creek. I hated that she lost all her credit cards and ID. I hated that due to the broken window it caused my son and his new bride to cancel their honeymoon and reservations in Jasper in order to help their stranded friend, make numerous phone calls to credit card companies, insurance companies, etc. and to look into providing her with a place to stay.

I hated that this selfish, greedy, destructive event was how my new daughter-in-law ended her long awaited special day.
