I stand in full agreement with the opinions stated by Ms. Joly-Mikus in the (Gazette, Dec. 28) edition. I have also spent much of this past year responding to MP Michael Cooper's continual litany of negativity and I have tried to encourage him to be a more positive representative in Ottawa.
I would have hoped by now the Conservatives would have realized that negative campaigning does not work in a well-educated society. Regardless of whether one sits on the government side of the house, or the opposition side, all MPs are charged with the responsibility to represent all of their constituents, and to do that effectively means looking at all issues with an open mind, not just parroting the party line.
It appears that unlike his predecessor, MP Cooper seems to be choosing the latter option. Hopefully this will change and we will see an MP who truly is concerned about his constituents and starts to provide us with relevant information rather than negative slogans and meaningless surveys.
