Letter writer needs proof of claim

I respect Bob Russell’s opinions and have crossed swords with him before on issues on which I simply cannot agree with him. In one case I pressed the send button before properly reviewing what I had said.

I respect Bob Russell’s opinions and have crossed swords with him before on issues on which I simply cannot agree with him. In one case I pressed the send button before properly reviewing what I had said. I certainly owed him an apology and he proved to be most magnanimous in accepting my telephoned apology for my erroneous statements. For that I must again thank him. I shall have to be careful that everything I say must now be justified.

That having been said, his contention that cattle thieves can celebrate the end of the gun registry as if they have no fear of being caught does not pass muster in my eyes. The laws for theft and misuse of rifles for illegal purposes will not be changed by the cancellation of the registry.

Does Bob have any proof of his contention that most farmers would be against cancellation of the log gun registry? The answer to that would have to be determined by an official poll before I would agree with him on that point.

The one point he makes that has some merit is the return of two rifles to their rightful owner as a result of serial numbers obtained from the registry but is that good value for the $2 billion dollar expenditure on the registry so far?
