The American Medical Associations warns that LED lighting can have harmful effects on humans and the environment, and German physician and photobiologist Alexander Wunsch states that the wrong use of artificial light can have serious effects on our health from macular degeneration (blindness) to breast and prostate cancer.

The City of St. Albert will saving money by replacing sodium street lights with LEDs, but what is the cost to Alberta Health if we succumb to increased rates of disease?
