My reasons for sending this letter is to ask for clarification regarding people using this recreation area as an off leash zone. A couple of weeks ago I brought my dog, assuming that there was no problem and as I approached the gate the pamphlet posted on the information board for the proper use of this area stated that pet owners should leave their pets at home.
Maybe there should be larger signage posted rather than the small print on a pamphlet that very few seem to read. Today, there were at least four large dogs running free while I was there, and if I can stumble upon a fawn hiding along the trail, so can dogs. While I have the sense to back away and circle around this creature, I don't think the average dog would be able to resist the instinct to see this fawn as prey.
That being said, sure, unless you take the time to read the small print on the posted pamphlet, one could mistakenly assume that this area is OK for dogs. But at the very least, they could pick up the poop that now is starting to line the trails.
