Leave Fountain Park Pool alone

I am wondering how many of our members of St.

I am wondering how many of our members of St. Albert City Council actually use Fountain Park pool on a regular basis? If they participated in a class or went lane swimming they would see the futility of trying to get rid of the islands to make more lane space. Now what might be more feasible would be to reconfigure the pool at Servus Place. Further closing this facility for a few months would not cause that much heartache.

You can never really get the figures for Servus Place pool use compared to Fountain Park, but from anecdotal observation it would seem it is not used that much in the course of a year. So take out the stream, the water slides and create another fully usable water space where lessons could happen and where more lanes could be available.

It is obvious that we are never going to get another pool no matter how big our population gets; for over 60,000 people this is negligent behaviour. If we wait ’til hell freezes over, all we would get is another ice rink!
