I think there needs to be some common sense brought to the public's attention regarding the issue of leaving children unattended in a vehicle.
My wife stopped at a local dollar store to pick up some birthday cards for a birthday party that my children were going to attend later that day.
She made the decision to leave the kids in the vehicle for the five minutes it would take her to compete the purchase rather than bringing them into the store which could take a little bit longer to accomplish her goal.
When my wife returned to the vehicle, a lady stopped her and proceeded to indicate that she would be receiving a phone call from the police regarding the leaving of the children unattended in the vehicle. My children are five and eight years old.
This lady took photographs of our vehicle with her cellphone and was intent on claiming that we had done something illegal. She further proclaimed that the RCMP would be giving us a call regarding this matter.
When my wife called me at work to explain what had happened, I already knew that nothing illegal happened and was able to calm my wife down. Unfortunately, this lead to her day being ruined by some lady who thought she was doing the right thing.
Please, whoever you are out there, use common sense prior to making baseless accusations.
