Barbara Smith does an admirable job of mixing fact with fiction in her letter to the editor (Gazette, June 20) although I am not sure how much fact was involved. The fictional part was her criticism of Mayor Nolan Crouse on the matter of Amacon and the additional height of the proposed condo building in Grandin.
The fact is that the City of St. Albert's Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP) states that five storeys are allowed, and therefore Amacon may be entitled to build five storeys – the amendment to the Land Use Bylaw is being considered by Council. Mayor Crouse is in no way playing favourites, but rather following the city's own land use framework.
May I suggest that Barbara Smith take a lesson from the catch phrase for the popular ’60s series Dragnet, "Just the facts m'am."
