There is a relatively simple solution for slowing drivers in school zones. It is speed bumps. There are "portable" ones that are spiked into the road. If public works does not know how to install them, I will show them how ... no charge.
The speed bumps not only slow drivers, they also encourage some to use other routes. If someone moans about the "inconvenience" to drivers, suck it up girls and boys. You now have arrived as "adults." We are protecting kids, not your sensitive bums. Signs are installed to warn you of speed bumps ahead. If you do not understand "sign language" you will experience another of life's "bumps."
This solution is much less labour intensive, i.e. police presence, et al.
