To the fish and wildlife officer(s) who were involved in shooting a moose in St. Albert on March 29, I say hats off to you gentlemen; you are well trained and did what you had to do.
There are well-documented incidents of human death by moose, some of which are accessible online. In situations such as this, public safety comes first; it is not an option, it is a must. You did not wait until someone gets hurt or killed; you chose to act rather than react. You showed good judgment and suitability for the job.
However, next time that we have a moose on the loose, it appears as if some disgruntled individuals would like a chance at try to rope the animal and sweet talk it out of town. Let us give them that chance and watch what happens.
Again, job well done and we appreciate what you do.
