On Thursday, Jan. 20 at 12:30 p.m. on Gate Avenue, my daughter’s vehicle was side-swiped, by a white truck.
My daughter was heading west in the far right lane when a white truck pulling a long flatbed pulled into her lane, cutting her off. She braked but the flatbed rammed into her car, dragged it, and scraped and dented the driver’s side. After the front rear view mirror was ripped off, the flatbed hit the front bumper raising her vehicle up into the air. The force of the trailer sent the car up a four-foot snow bank. The truck braked and then sped away.
My daughter was in utter disbelief and still is. She thought you were stopping to help her, and wonders how you could just speed off and not care about her condition. I would like to thank Nick who stopped to help and was a witness.
I need the public’s help since witnesses could not see a licence plate. We are looking for a white truck pulling a flatbed with a black metal trim that is long enough to carry possibly two vehicles. On the rear right side of the flatbed (possibly the wheel well) you will see blue metallic paint from my daughter’s blue Kia Rio. I would like to see justice for this as we have had to put time and effort into helping my daughter recover, pay for the towing, insurance, and now no vehicle for my daughters to drive.
Police came to the scene and later looked at the gas station video from Petro Canada as this is where you were minutes before the hit and run. In the video there is a white truck and a flatbed with a man driving but the camera is angled so no plates show.
Please, if you know of someone who spoke about this let me know. Maybe a neighbour has a flatbed with blue paint scraped near the wheel well. Maybe an employee came back to work with a scraped flatbed. Any information or leads on plates, a name or company would help and be appreciated.
