Group's leader, not bus driver, at fault

I am writing in response to Caroline McCullagh's letter: “Bus driver should know better,” in the June 14 edition of the St. Albert Gazette. In her letter she is chastising a city bus driver who had the right of way at a green light.

I am writing in response to Caroline McCullagh's letter: “Bus driver should know better,” in the June 14 edition of the St. Albert Gazette.

In her letter she is chastising a city bus driver who had the right of way at a green light. While I agree the driver should not have tried to proceed while the intersection was occupied, the volunteer who led these children into the street while there was a red light should be the one getting the grief!

This gives me the opportunity to vent about people dragging kids across the street when it is unsafe to do so. I live near Elmer S. Gish school and see adults daily hauling their kids into traffic when there is a controlled crosswalk nearby.

Tell me, how are kids supposed to know road safety when the adults around them are breaking the rules?
