Firefighter/paramedics' well-wishing boosts civic pride

This Halloween my neighbour and I were enjoying the lovely weather while walking with our excited trick-or-treaters. As we made our way to the next house on our street, we saw a St. Albert fire services/EMS vehicle pull up beside us.

This Halloween my neighbour and I were enjoying the lovely weather while walking with our excited trick-or-treaters.

As we made our way to the next house on our street, we saw a St. Albert fire services/EMS vehicle pull up beside us. We asked our children to wait in case there was an emergency at the house we were about to approach. Much to our surprise, the gentlemen rolled down their windows and wished us all a happy and safe Halloween and gave all the children some treats!

Experiencing this gesture of neighbourhood spirit and visibility reinforced my pride in our city. I want to express my gratitude. Their actions exemplified what we want our children to learn about taking a role in making positive connections with people in our communities.
