I wish to encourage St. Albert residents to make contact with elected representatives to ensure that environmental impact assessment laws are produced that will contribute to stronger communities and a healthier environment.
If Canada is going to meet its international commitments and retain its image of a just and responsible nation, we need an environmental impact assessment law that:
• Achieves sustainability for both the environment and Canadians’ well-being;
• Takes into account cumulative impacts of development projects in this region;
• Consults Indigenous Peoples early in the process, and
• Includes meaningful public participation.
