I am beyond irked and irritated. Today I received an email from a sender called Action For Change to advise me of some apparent situation in which Mayor Nolan Crouse “made inappropriate comments about 2 Councillors …”
This email included a YouTube link and went on to explain all the damage and suffering of a Mr. Durham as a result. I couldn’t care less.
Never at any point did I give Action For Change my email address, nor did I consent to receiving this type of propaganda, especially when it pertains to people I know and respect. With new anti-spam legislation coming into effect, Action For Change (whoever they are) needs to be very careful. This continual attempt to stir the pot is making people upset and coming across as sour grapes from Mr. Durham not being elected.
The public tactics used by Action For Change are discreditable, and hypocritical in that Action For Change is complaining about Mr. Crouse’s behaviour when they are the ones sending out public communiquĂ©s to unsuspecting residents to tarnish his reputation.
I have personally met and interacted with all council members named in the spam email, and from personal experience I can say they are all quite decent people with differing views – which is healthy. Are they all perfect? No, but compared to many other municipalities, St. Albert's doing all right.
Let’s focus on the concrete issues in our city. The election was seven months ago and it’s time to move past the drama of personality skirmishes.
