In response to the letter regarding councillors missing meetings:
When the citizens of St. Albert elect council members to run our city, we are assuming they know what their responsibilities will be once they are elected. When we read that some of our newly elected councillors are already complaining about the days and/or hours of meetings by making excuses that they cannot attend some of them because of their "day jobs" and/or they are missing "family time" in their personal life due to having to attend evening meetings, I wonder why they even ran for office in the first place. They would have to know and be prepared to make some sacrifices if they were elected to council. Our city has more important issues to deal with than these members of council whining and complaining about something that should not even be an issue.
My question is, how can you be a good voice for your constituents when you are missing 18 per cent or better of meetings?
