Efforts of Lions clubs lauded

It is the citizens of St. Albert who are at the heart of what makes our community a wonderful place in which to live; find meaning in daily living; beauty in every niche.

At the moment, I am speaking especially of the members of both Lions clubs that planned and organized a fun evening including, not only dancing, a country supper of beer and beans, a midnight lunch; but also a fantastic silent auction. Unbelievable that so many activities could have been conducted in one evening. A most significant part for me was the fact that some of the proceeds earned are to go to the Community Refugee Committee of St. Albert to sponsor a family of refugees yet to be named.

My sincere thanks go to the members of both Lions clubs who are committed to making this city and the world a better, more peaceful place. It is people such as these at the heart of the community of St. Albert who help to make our town seem like a friendly, small town.

Helen Arnott, co-chair, Community Refugee Committee of St. Albert
