I think it is time that the people of St. Albert start asking the questions like “would there be a tax reduction if we became part of greater Edmonton?” I believe there would, as we would get rid of our council and administration, that alone would reduce costs, then we would probably save on transit costs and school taxes, not to mention franchise fees.
Most importantly, we would probably get businesses moving here from Edmonton that currently choose Edmonton because of taxes. St. Albert’s councils have made choices that do nothing but increase taxes rather than work at finding ways to reduce taxes. It is time to stop the “nice to's” and go back to simple and lower taxes.
I think we need to start a movement to become part of Edmonton.
