Who are the real bad drivers? About once every couple of months I might see a minor road rage kind of incident. While I hear they are common I seldom witness them. And maybe once every two weeks or so somebody passes me going way over the speed limit. But it does not happen every day.
The fact is, I drive in St. Albert pretty much every day and rarely see this kind of behaviour. But what I do see every day on St. Albert streets is an incredible number of drivers going much slower than the posted speed. I happen to pay close attention to the posted speed and personally don't mind going 60 km/h on St. Albert Trail and 50 km/h on Dawson. I think perhaps some thought was given to coming up with these numbers and that one of the reasons these numbers exist is to keep traffic flowing smoothly. A driver with an acceptable level of skill, and who takes care of his vehicle, should have no problem driving the posted speed.
So here's my message to drivers. If you do not have the skill, reaction time, or attention span to drive the posted speed, or if you can't afford good snow tires, or your vehicle is incapable of reaching the posted speed, perhaps you should not be on the road.
