It’s that time of the year again. The sun is starting to shine, the snow is melting (for the most part) and dog owners are abusing the animal bylaw. Wait, what?! Not here in dear old St. Albert!
I thought we fixed this issue? Wrong! I myself enjoy going on daily walks around my neighbourhood lake, Lacombe Park Lake that is. I’m the fella who wears a black jacket and scowls at your dog every time they run up to my knees. What was once a relaxing daily trek has now turned into a nightmare filled expedition. Filled with the idiotic sounds of “Don't worry, he's friendly” or “He's just saying hi.” Well guess what, I’m saying bye! There are designated areas around the lake where your dogs can roam free and sniff each other’s butts. When I’m walking on the trail around the lake where dogs are simply not allowed to be off leash, I expect them to be on leash.
Is that too much to ask? Please respond to this if you have any comments. I’d love to tell you about the time my mother was thrown off her bike by a “friendly dog” at Lacombe Lake. Thank you.
