Regarding the new fence at the Lacombe Park dog park:
Putting a fence in that does include the dog swimming beach is ridiculous. The beach is well used and was improved for dog use.
Lacombe Park is the most well used dog park in the city. People can use other parks in the area or city if they object to dogs off leash. There are no other choices for dogs that want to swim.
Having dog owners pay for the fence from license fees is unfair and hypocritical. There are many services and facilities that I do not use but my taxes pay for them. I do not complain about this as it is part of the community.
Maybe it is time for the arts and Servus Centre etc. to be self-sustaining and not be supported by the taxpayers. Fees in St. Albert are too high now and should not be increased further.
