Diaper service provides cloth alternative

I commend Jill Ladouceur (Gazette, June 21) for her information on cloth diapers. One roadblock for some people might be the extra laundry that cloth diapers produce.

One roadblock for some people might be the extra laundry that cloth diapers produce. Another excellent alternate option is a diaper service, which I used for my three children.

The diaper service was environmentally friendly, and so convenient that I even used the cloth diapers when I was camping. The service provides a large diaper bin with waterproof bag and deodorizer so there is no odour. The diapers snap together or have Velcro so there are no pins. You use diaper covers that they provide or you can buy your own.

The company launders and sanitizes and dries them in large batches so less environmental impact than washing them yourself, and the price was less than disposables.

The diaper company provides a week’s worth of diapers pre-birth so they can be used right from the start. Cloth diapers are really helpful when you want to know whether your newborn is producing enough urine (it’s so hard to tell with disposables).

Cloth diapers are definitely a huge reduction in garbage for the household and a better environment for the baby’s future.
