Dentist saves son from life of pain

I want to share an experience my family had with Bright Dental in St. Albert. My son is 15 years old and has been a migraine sufferer for five to six years now.

I want to share an experience my family had with Bright Dental in St. Albert. My son is 15 years old and has been a migraine sufferer for five to six years now. He would suffer two sometimes three headaches a week and last year he missed about 45 days of school due solely to these headaches. They are so bad that he needs complete darkness, cold cloths and complete silence. They would also cause nausea and vomiting.

We took him to numerous medical appointments including a pediatrician, neurologist, chiropractor and dietitian. We also had X-rays and an MRI but nobody could figure out why the chronic headaches.

One day I was at Bright for my own appointment and I mentioned to Dr. Neves that my son would not be at his appointment later that day because he was home with a headache. Dr. Neves didn't just leave it at that, he began to ask me a series of questions as to how and when these came on. After answering these question Dr. Neves told me he felt strongly that he had a treatment and would like to try it on my son. We were willing to try anything.

My son was scanned with an EMG device that identified his correct jaw position and put his surrounding nerves and muscles in the most relaxed position that alleviated his migraines. It had a lot to do with his TM joint. Once his jaw was relaxed they fitted him with an appliance that he needed to wear for an extended period so his jaw would stay in the new position. Like muscle memory.

The treatment was more than three weeks ago and we are so happy to share that my son has not had a headache since the treatment. It was devastating as a parent to see your child suffer so frequently that way. I felt compelled to share this story and express my eternal thanks to Dr. Neves and his team at Bright Dental for saving my son from what seemed a lifetime of pain.
