Jim Starko's criticism of the city's proposed curbside compost collection system reflects a clear ignorance of modern waste management practices and antiquated environmental values.
Curbside composting was not invented by the City of St Albert. In fact, 100 percent of Prince Edward Island residents have access to it, almost 90 percent of Ontario residents have access to it and over 60 percent of B.C. residents have access to it (2006 statistics). And don't forget the 30 percent of Alberta residents who have access to curbside compost collection.
I will give Starko credit for using his imagination to invent a new "green" related phrase, but what on earth is "environmental social engineering?"
