Isn't it fun that we are facing a potential four-per-cent increase in city taxes while, at the same time, our city manager's staff advises us that the painting of crosswalks, part of a $54,000 branding project (costing about $1 per man, woman and child per year) is probably temporary. Thank goodness.
I was wondering what efforts are planned for our winter months when our streets are covered with snow. I reckon we are expected to be diverted by the installation of dazzling metal cutouts on our street lamps.
If that is what is meant by cultivating life in St. Albert, maybe we might wish to pause until we house our homeless, fill the shelves of our food bank and turning the job of delivering art in public places to an accountable non-governmental agency that knows something about the business and has shown it can do more for less.
