Wow! A possible doubling to the cost of major sewer Project 9. This is not a small amount, this is a possibility of getting close to $30 million.
It seems not a week goes by that the city administration seem to somehow not budget/research/plan and be able to deliver a project in a timely and financially acceptable manner. Somehow the end result of all the oopsies ends up being an increase in taxes.
Yes council needs to look at ways to cut back on other things and a good idea to start now. The promenade showcase by city hall, there is a start, a way over budget white elephant. With the flop of the painted sidewalks and road, spending another enormous amount on inlaid thermo-plastic next year to repeat the experiment should be cancelled now.
It seems there is a big lack of common sense and responsibility when spending taxpayers’ dollars. Each week presents another example. One would think the "desperately “ required additional staff that was added to city hall would have ensured a smooth, well-run and functional municipal government. It appears to be just the opposite. Things are more out of control than before.
Once again, council should at least try to get it right.
