Council dysfunction disappoints reader

I like the proper usage of the English language and try to improve my own efforts. Thus, I shake my head at the split infinitives and dangling participles I often see in Gazette columns. However, that is nit picking.

Thus, I shake my head at the split infinitives and dangling participles I often see in Gazette columns. However, that is nit picking. Regarding content, I was more than disgusted at the account of the quarrels taking place at city council (Gazette, Oct. 26, page 14). This was a description of Council members having a circuitous discussion about civic appointments. The upshot is that I am convinced we have a dysfunctional council. A certain Mr. Trump might soon be available?

While I am on a roll, what the devil is the point of that traffic circle outside City Hall? What was the cost? At least it is not painted green or orange or something. Maybe draw a pumpkin face into it?

On page 24, there are protocols re letters to the editor. However, the item reads: "Unsigned letters will not be ......" Will not be what? Could the Gazette not be more specific about where to send letters to the editor? I telephoned and the Gazette receptionist was very helpful, by the way. Bob Lane, St. Albert
