Congratulations to the Bellerose Soul Team for creating posters that denounce demeaning language.
The team decided to print derogatory words students often use without fully understanding their meaning onto posters around the school.
“Words set a standard of behaviour,” the school counsellor said in the interview with the St. Albert Gazette.
Ten pages further on in the same edition of the Gazette (Jan. 21), we find a commentary by a kindly smiling, white-haired gentleman (columnist Brian McLeod) who uses rather colourful language describing our prime minister as “a clown,” “a joke,” “a fool” and “an idiot.”
Just in case this gentleman does not fully understand the meaning of these demeaning words, maybe a visit to the Bellerose Soul Team would help. It is never too late to learn.
