As per the article (Gazette, April 18) regarding the planned closure of Village Transit Station (by 2020). I have been following this story with great interest and concern.

Presently I work downtown in Edmonton. My shift starts at 6:45 a.m. Consequently, I catch the first bus of the morning which is the 201 leaving Village Transit Station at 5:25 a.m. This is the only bus leaving St. Albert at that time. There is no local bus service. As I live in the Grandin area, and do not always have a vehicle available, I walk to the station. It is approximately a 15 minute walk, which I don’t mind.

If Village Transit Station is closed it will become an inconvenience to get to either St. Albert Centre or the new transit facility on Campbell Road.

Village Transit Station is centrally located. We pay higher bus fares than Edmonton, and it will become more inconvenient for a higher populated area of residents to access.  Commuter service at peak hours is excellent, but local service is unfortunately not very convenient, and now it is proposed to make it worse.

Thank you for your article.
