Concern about city leaving grass clippings behind

As I walked my dog through the park by my house today and had trouble breathing with all the dried up hay laying on the green grass and on the sidewalks, I had a thought.

As I walked my dog through the park by my house today and had trouble breathing with all the dried up hay laying on the green grass and on the sidewalks, I had a thought. If the city is looking to add money to their account, they should pick up all the hay that is laying on the parks, the school grounds, and other areas that are mowed by the city. Over the summer, they could sell a few bales or better still, donate them to farmers who could maybe use them, providing the hay isn't full of weed killer.

I realize the reasoning is to save money by just mowing and not picking up the grass cuttings, which if not left so long in between mowings, would be OK. For a city as beautiful as St. Albert, it really is an eyesore to see this hay laying around. And for folks with seasonal allergies, it kind of discourages them from walking in these areas that are reminiscent of farmland – in the middle of our vibrant city. I'm just saying.
