The fact that banning organics from landfills is still headline news (Gazette, March 18) goes to show that some part of our collective concern on the environment is failing miserably.
I would have expected this to be a headline at least 20 years ago because this practice is a "no brainer" not only in a climate change context, but also in a waste management context.
I grew up in an urban community in a composting, conservative household, and I just turned 60. I believe the appropriate phrase in this instance for community administrations who have not yet banned organics is "get with the program".
