In reference to Sheron Pickard letter (Gazette, Jan. 24) re compostable plastic bags. The bags are out there but there are not many of them. My friend who was a researcher in Los Angeles developed the bags in the 1990s. Long story.
At any rate it was meant to stop highway garbage in the state of California. Great idea but cost prohibitive then versus now. We can now place compostable small garbage bags for our in-house compostable containers.
