Re: Jeff Bertram’s letter in the Wednesday, May 7 Gazette, "Garbage situation is not acceptable: writer."
I couldn't agree more. In fact, on Tuesday May 6 I made a call to public works to complain about my compost pickup ... or lack thereof, and this was not the first time. The company that picks up our compost may have "picked up" my bin, but they missed the mark when it came to dumping it!
My husband and I had to shovel the grass and other compostables off the road and back into the bin, which is now broken. I was told by the lovely lady at public works that my concerns would be passed on to the appropriate supervisors and that someone would be out to empty and take a look at my broken bin ... within the next two weeks!
I am tired of paying these ridiculous taxes and fees on top of taxes for terrible service. I am tired of having to go out and pick up garbage and compost and loose papers off of my lawn, driveway and road. I pay for these services, I am not paid to do them!
