The most important reason to keep Villeneuve Road open is safety. Closing Villeneuve will only force all that traffic onto other neighbourhood streets, roads like Dennison, Deer Ridge and Hogan Road.
Increasing traffic onto these roads would be a major safety disaster as these roads have three schools on them, several playgrounds, numerous controlled and un-controlled crosswalks and about 100 homes with driveways that access onto the roads.
Villeneuve has no schools, no crosswalks and no residential driveways onto it. In addition to the existing traffic being rerouted through these neighbourhood streets, imagine how busy they will get when Jensen Lakes is built up to its planned capacity of 2,000 more residences or almost 3,000 more cars driving to Ray Gibbon.
The safe plan is to keep Villeneuve open and the traffic concerns will be addressed, i.e. slowed and noise decreased as new traffic lights will have to be installed on Villeneuve at Dennison and the new proposed traffic circle at Fowler Road. The only sane solution is the safe solution.
