Close snow dump during quiet hours

The lack of action to the complaints from Northridge residents, who are being kept awake throughout the night by snow dumping at the dump on Villeneuve Road, does not reflect the values of a Botanical City.

The lack of action to the complaints from Northridge residents, who are being kept awake throughout the night by snow dumping at the dump on Villeneuve Road, does not reflect the values of a Botanical City. The noise is caused by trucks dumping snow when accelerating then braking hard to bang the rear door five or six times in an effort to dislodge the load. This cannot be tolerated by me or other taxpayers in Northridge.

Just being a messenger for many residents does not cut me any slack; I receive the same old mumbo jumbo as you. I have had no reply from any member of city council; too busy trying to divert the unused inflated snow budget to some other useless cause.

My complaint has reached the city manager, the bylaw people, city council, public works, St. Albert Citizens’ Coalition, among others, but to no avail. How in the name of the wee man can they justify keeping a large number of residents awake throughout the night, when only a few snowflakes fly.

Public works need to take a very serious look as to when and how their service is required, snowplows running around dry streets looking for something to do. Servus Place, City Hall and the swimming pools don’t need every snowflake removed every night.

Stop ripping the taxpayer off. It’s more like the streets need attention to serve residential taxpayers like me better; we who pay the greatest percentage of the tax burden. I want the dump closed to all, any season, during all St. Albert quiet hours.

John W. Smith, St. Albert
