It is absolutely astounding that Mr. Spink wishes to stick to the science and then he does not. Perhaps he needs a reminder about the second law of thermodynamics. In its short form, it basically says that heat always flows spontaneously from hotter to colder bodies, and never the reverse. A warmer atmosphere does not heat the cooler ocean. So while Mr. Spink asserts that global temperatures may not have been rising recently, he then proclaims almost in the same sentence that the temperatures have been rising in the oceans and the ice caps are melting.
As Aristotle once astutely observed: A thing is and cannot be something else at the same time. Since the oceans are part of the earth and since the atmospheric temperatures have not risen (true), and since Mr. Spink concurs, then logic demands that there is in fact no global warming. One can even go so far as to say that if the oceans’ temperatures have been rising, by about 0.02 degrees centigrade (error bars excluded) per decade then the continents themselves must have cooled by the same amount or more.
And perhaps Mr. Spink would care to check the data on ice in both the Arctic and Antarctic. He will be surprised to learn that ice volume as well as extent has been increasing. Perhaps one should keep up with the science instead of regurgitating the IPPC 2 alarmist nonsense?
