As a water professional with 25 years of experience, I am appalled with the comments by Ryan Sweet regarding both tap water and bottled water in his March 22 letter to the editor.

The “evil” chlorine, described by Mr. Sweet, used for drinking water disinfection, has probably saved more lives than any other single innovation mankind has ever known. Granted, some people don’t like the taste of chlorine, and some people may have a sensitivity to chlorine, but the context of Mr. Sweet's comments are a self serving exaggeration.
