I can't believe the letter that Dianne McDonald wrote into the Gazette (Saturday, July 12). The only thing I agree with is that this cat doesn't deserve to be shot at. Whoever is using a BB gun on animals should be charged with animal cruelty. It is not the cat’s fault it has an irresponsible owner who believes her cat should be allowed to roam. If you are not supervising your cat outdoors, then it should be inside your home, not roaming! Cats are very happy staying indoors. Plus their lifespan is much longer if they are kept safe inside your home.
I am a responsible owner of two cats that go outside but are leash trained, stay on my deck ... only when I am with them, otherwise they are inside my home. They are happy and do not roam my neighbourhood. Dianne McDonald should not be a pet owner as she should be charged with neglect.
