I understand that during the months preceding an election that each candidate wants to make his/her platform heard, but I wish that the individuals who were running would do so in a respectful manner instead of mocking others on social media to further their cause. Such is the case with a post I found from Steve Stone on the St. Albert Library Petition page recently. Mr. Stone posted a picture of himself engaging in Play-Doh activity with some young children with this comment: “Hate to be in competition with the library; ya (sic) think my workshop with the kids is putting somebody at the library out-of-work? Do I quality (sic) to be a librarian?” I am aware that Mr. Stone opposes the building of a branch library and is a member of the St. Albert Library Petition group, however opposing the building of a branch library is quite different from mocking and devaluing the incredible services provided by our current library as well as the important jobs that our very qualified library staff have. I do not know which candidates I will vote for in the election, as I have not heard the views of all candidates. I do know, however, that I won’t be supporting any individuals who engage in mud slinging and insulting the citizens and services of the very community they wish to represent. I encourage other voters to not only think of what issues you stand for, but what kind of people you wish to have representing our community when you mark your ballot. Melissa Zawaduk, St. Albert
